Find Inspiration in the Story
Start with something you love. There are a ton of fabrics to choose from. Go to what immediately draws your eye. Nothing is too colorful or vivid. This is the time to lean all the way into your maximalist dreams! The Breegan Jane x Clarke & Clarke collection is featured in the “New Collections” section of the store.
Different but Complementary
Next, you want to look for prints that are very different from each other, but complementary. I loved the way Pokot paired with Duma. Layer something unexpected. Remember, we’re telling a full and complete story. This is a great time to visit the “Modern Prints” section of the Kravet workspace.
Create Two Different Scale Stories
One of the most important parts of mixing patterns and prints is varying the scale. One should be smaller, and the other bigger. This will give dimension and interest without making the combination feel busy.
Unify With a Grounding Color
Now that you have something your heart loves, different patterns and scales, we need a grounding solid color. When you visit Kravet, you’ll notice the “Think Inside the Box” section. They make it so easy to create beauty! Select a couple solids, but consider different textures to keep it visually intriguing.
