If I gave these kids nothing else, I gave them the ocean. My boys are water babies. Kingsley knows about boat rules and safety, and we love enjoying the ocean together. Seeing him play water polo this year was a treat, and I hope he continues in his love of the ocean. It’s been how I connect spiritually with the world in many ways, and I hope they too will know so many answers can be found in nature.

I love hanging out with my kids. I often hear other parents say they want childfree dates, but I never do. I attribute that to all the times I took them with me out to dinner. Yes, it was sometimes challenging when my boys were 1 and 3 or even 2 and 4…but I recognize that the payoff is SO worth it now that they are 9 and 11. My boys and I go out to eat and they are polite with wonderful manners. I’m grateful I pushed through the tougher moments, because it gave me an opportunity to teach them how to exist in social spaces. We all have a great time together.
