How to Napoleon-proof your home:
convert a Martello tower
Owner and designer Duncan Jackson worked with Piercy Conner Architects
to make this ancient defense tower into a home of the 21st century.
Twelve-foot-thick walls enclose what is now a contemporary home
with light tubes that bring daylighting into the depths of the spaces.

The hard work of these designers was recognized with
Britain’s prestigious RIBA award in 2010
